Rendang paste
Also called bumbu rendang, rendang spice paste
Indonesian spice paste of chilli, shallot, galangal, lemongrass and warm spices; simmered with coconut milk for dry, deeply spiced rendang.
What can replace it

Less warm spice; add cinnamon, clove and toasted coconut.

Thai and a little sweeter, but with similar warm spice; add galangal and lemongrass.
